I wanted to thank everyone that helped with our classroom Halloween party.  The students had a great time.  The day after our party we created a class graph of their favorite activity at the party, below is how this broke down:
10 Students like bowling the most
4 Students liked the skeleton drop the most
2 Students liked the pin the spider on the web the most

Thank you again for all your support.

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Pink notes went home today in student Friday folders which show the time for your individual conferences on either Tuesday or Thursday, October 25th or 27th.

FIRE SAFETY
The local fire department visited our school this week and the students learned a lot about fire safety.  I hope they came home and shared some of this information with you.

FALL DAY
We had a great (little windy) day at the park.  The students learned about pumpkins and corn, went on a scavenger hunt, and enjoyed a hayrack ride.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDER
Just a reminder that the October book order is due, next Friday, October 21st.  There were many great choices for young readers in this months pamphlet.

HALLOWEEN PARTY
Please mark your calendars for classroom parties on Monday, October 31st.  I will be sending home more information next week.

We are learning about the change of seasons and have decorated a fall tree with some of our daily work.  We will continue to add to the Fall bulletin board so everyone will have a chance to see this at our parent-conferences October 25th & 27th.

I wanted to give a brief overview of some of the really cool technology we are fortunate to have in our classroom this year.

Last year I wrote a grant and was awarded a “smart board” for our classroom. Currently we are the only classroom in the building with this technology available. Basically it has turned our class whiteboard into a giant “touch” computer screen. I am able to create or find educational learning experiences on my laptop and project this onto the whiteboard. Students are then able to come to the board and use the “smart board mouse” to move objects around or make a selection. We have used this several times already and the class is really enjoying the unique learning experiences it is providing.

There will be an “Open House” at Northeast Elementary on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., I hope you will take a few minutes to visit our classroom to checkout our “smart board”.

Welcome to Kindergarten Room B9! Each of the Kindergarten classrooms has a special name and our class is known as the Marvelous Monkeys.

I am looking forward to meeting all my students and families during our "Early Bird Conferences" on Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Please be sure to attend the district registration on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the high school to sign up for a time to bring your child into our classroom.

I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I’m looking forward to a happy and productive school year.
